Another decent old one.
Too bad that this video quality is so bad.
Steve Winwood the Younger
Yardbirds with enthusiastic young ladies
Well the video does say doobie did it.
Someone confused "Dobie" with "Doobie."
We hashed this very song out, and this very version, a couple or a few months ago.
George, the more I listen the more I think you're probably right, it's attributed wrongly.
But Daniel just likes digging up the muck
Here's where we did it, in October:
Dobie made a big hit from it, but it wasn't actually his song, that is for certain.
This from Wikipedia:
""Drift Away" has also been covered by many bands and vocalists around the world. Versions include those of Uncle Kracker, Allan Clarke, Roy Orbison, Ike & Tina Turner, Humble Pie, Mud, Rod Stewart, James Hollis, Waylon Jennings, Ray Charles, Michael Bolton, the Neville Brothers, Jon Bon Jovi, Copperhead, Christian Kane, the Rolling Stones, the Nylons, Ringo Starr, Bruce Springsteen, BoDeans, Judson Spence, Billy Joe Royal, Steve Young and John Kay. Folk singer Tom Rush recorded the song on his album What I Know, released in 2009."
No mention of the Doobie Brothers.
George, you are vindicated
How good is this?
Damn, I miss the 70s.
Really good quality sound on this video, too. [It was probably lip-synched]
Here's another, older Rod doing the same song. I rather like this one, but it's not the amazing Faces [one of my favorite 70s groups]:
Amazing! I totally forgot that "Drift Away" had generated fear and doubt (in me) before. Wow, I must be far more careful in my repetitions!
Thank you ThunderRd, you are a great Member of this here joint!
More Pointer Sisters
Something completely different
Honeycomb. Sorry, it's history.
What a great one. History isn't always a drag
I guess you'll say
When ever these two gather, hey I want to be there! LOL
I really liked this song, but I doubt I would have ever recalled it, Thanks George!
Another lost in the mist of time to me, again thanks!
So glad you made it George.":O}
