I have always liked this song. Video sucks, great song...difficult to sing as well. One of the all-time great pop vocals ever.
Dan Hartman AND Rick Derringer. Those were the best years of Edgar Winter's bands. Great song, great memories
I remember the Tut exhibit in New York like it was yesterday. I remember going to see it, and being underwhelmed as well, lolz. The whole city was caught up in it. Like Roseanne Roseannadanna said: 'Did you know Tut? Who is this Tut? Did you know that Tut spelled backwards is Tut?' Steve Martin satirized it best though. Gilda was a prize, but the Tut parody award goes to Steve.
I just read that Benny Mardones died last year from Parkinson's; I found this video, it is a good watch, tells the story of the song. Really nice interview. A lovely guy, make sure to watch it through to the end, it is a surprise:
I agree, it has terrible video quality. I listened to this one 'cause I had a vague memory of the song, and no memory of Benny Mardones. Difficult to sing. I had difficulty with the easy ones to sing. Not a musician any more. Sigh.
Brandi Carlile The Story Hoo-whee, what a song. Recently discovered that she's a local Seattle area artist. Who knew we were so fortunate?
