I was in the middle of the worst summer of my life. 90degrees in Yuba city which stank of sulfur from miles away. I heard this song and left Yuba forever the same week. You could say I was open to influence, but probably I just 17 and lonely.
I was on the lamb. My girl friends father showed up at my mothers with a gun. I was ducking red mustangs all summer. It made me famous among my friends! LOL
A song so good even super racist Georgia put aside the pitch forks and claimed it as their own, Now Georgia's state song.
I remember being literally thrown out of my GF's house by her father. But your GF's daddy with a gun looking for you is a whole new level!
I found that the South set aside their racism for Ray Charles. Now, if only racism was a southern problem.
I hate it when this happens! I totally trust Rick and I'm sure he knows why he likes what he likes. Given his track record, He's no doubt right in this case. But this song just doesn't talk to me. left to myself I wouldn't even listen to the end. I do like how excited he gets when listening to it. I watched it, but I was only into it for Rick. My feeling is that if Rick can't sell me on it no one can. But I can see a bit of why Rick says people hate them. I don't hate them, I just can't hear what Rick hears. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy Rick get so much out of them. Kinda sorry I don't.
