I never had a permanent fix for that gamma issue. When the game closes, I would go to my Nvidia driver manager and the gamma would immediately reset. That was my work-around

Oh, I thought you mean't Special Edition. I've never tried to install Mods in New Vegas. They "should" work because Skyrim and Oblivion mods work in Wine... but there is a chance that the Project Nevada has specific Windows dependencies to run. First, does New Vegas run in PlayOnLinux for you?

This got me to wondering... what if they are using Direct X 10/11 for rendering the mouse cursor? Maybe try installing Drakensang with d3dx10 & d3dx11 packages only. This way its not trying to render the mouse with Direct X 9 only.
