I guess I really should have said in here in the woods. Fore castes say to snow the next ten days. So Should I drop off the map, not to worry I'm shoveling my way back green.
Light to moderate snow all day. Around 6 inches accumulation.
I give my internet connection a 70/30 chance of making it though the night.
With ten snow days set to overwhelm the best laid plans
A little wind and a hard freeze and I'm off the grid.
Our big propane tank (120) gal. has yet to be delivered. We gave up on one one supplier and now were getting the run around from a second supplier. We have two thirty gal tanks full and on hand so no real worries there.
Have no idea what is going on with the local suppliers.
There's a small 14 inch sq sun roof over my bed I leave open to see the tree tops being covered with that sticky white stuff. I'll have Patti clean it off when she gets home.":O}
That gal never does any work for you! Just Kidding!!
6 inches already and ten more days of snow to go? That's REAL weather! I hope you are well provisioned and keep your 'net and power connected. Just rain here in the lowlands, and remarkably clean air, 3 uG of particles per cubic meter.
Following the good advice and recommends of our neighbors I think we are in pretty good shape.
as this is only our second winter i expect to have to make a few minor adjustments.
Everyone pick up around the campground ahead of an expected snow delivery.
Got 6 inches that has since melted off. Weather here is rather tricky, seems to be always less or more than predicted.
But the River is up. Hard to tell by how much as there is room for it to spread out a bit before rising.
The a log pile across the river from me designed to control erosion. has two ft. in Dia. logs that are disappearing beneath the current.
Generator is chugging away and We have power independent of everyone except all my neighbors who are needed to give good advice and better jokes/":O}
Here something I thought I knew but was somehow oh so wrong.
When power is out it takes out the internet as well. Never having had a genny before I just always assumed that was true.
Yet here I am happily conversing with my friends.
But unfortunately I'm going to have to start changing everyone by the word.
I think 2 cents a word sounds fair.
At 1700 feet there's a lot less water to rise than lowlanders have to cope with. It's one hell of a lot cleaner as well.
At the low point all sorts of gravel islands appear, were now down to just one, the biggest which went from around 60 feet long to it's present 15 ft.
And history is on my side. this river hasn't flooded here in ages. If only rivers respected history! ":O}
Don't forget George my house is now on wheels. The park owner offered us all sanctuary from the fires last summer. So Imaging we could relocate temperately should the waters rise beyond my desire for a little excitement.
You mean having your very own power company means that you also have net access? Hooray, very well done Daniel! Am I right in imagining that your neighbors have power because you need to keep your generator load properly balanced? Not to mention your innate magnificent generosity!
Re-location is easy in case of fire or floods? Can't beat that with a knobkerry! (Very nasty Zulu head cracker, iirc.)
The very thought of icy winter, or icy summer water nipping at your toes. Shudder!
Me and my generator team have some work to do! Power is back on much sooner than expected.
Genny runs and works great for me. But for some reason when ever one particular neighbor hooks up the Genny stalls and quits.
My more knowledgeable gen team captain is schooling him as to what he can run and not bring us all down and bum us out.":O}
Life is good, have some! ":O}
Very glad to read that your power from the pole is back! Must be inconvenient for you that a person you are kind enough to give power to is messing up! Thank you again for the new speakers!
