I was so lucky to see her at the Opera House at a Bumbershoot one year. Her voice surprised me back in those days, before tv's were flat screens their sound quality was pretty bad. I'd seen her on Austin City Limits a few times and found her impossible to ignore. In person her voice was a wonder. I was very glad to hear her. For out of towners who may not know, Bumbershoot is a yearly music festival that happens in late summer. Way back when a ticket for one day cost $6. This year it was $106. There is no inflation! Huyuck.
She is also as cute as all get out. Was surprised once to elicit an angry reply from my last (sigh) GF by saying this to her once. "I've always been cute!" she replied. It was too late to say that she was also pretty.
"we should fear and love god above all things." an unusual combo yes? Fear and love. yet upon reflection they do go hand in hand. First all men and women fear losing what they love. Tis a fearful thing to love that which death can touch." But a deeper understanding leads us to fear that which death can never touch. Upon dying each and every one of us has, perhaps for only the briefest moment, of utter solitude. A moment to ourselves when neither light nor darkness can prevail. as they are bound to one another. A moment in which the stars shine but do not illuminate the either. A moment in which we are neither dying nor being born. A moment at the still point of the turning world A moment within the breaking wave of creation. A moment in the timeless dimensions of love and fear. A moment, just long enough for the question to grip each heart in turn. if a question is not asked it cannot be answered. Will HE come for me? Yes, love and fear go hand and hand, hand to hand and Hand to God. Will She come for me and see me home? A question that knows fear an answer that knows love, In incarnation we learn of fear yet reincarnation is to laugh. The walk is only far if you think you know where you are going.
I so want to be able to hold someone's hand when I go. Completely alone at the moment of extremis, how freakin' cruel.
The moment I speak of lies just beyond a hand to hold. So hold a hand that gives you comfort. from another perspective: If he does not come for you, you will not mind as you will not be. ":O}
When have so many sought to become one? truly an unbroken circle of just about everyone you know.":O}
This guy really made an impression on me...then somehow he was just gone The Way It Is Bruce Hornsby, Ricky Skaggs Standing in line, marking time Waiting for the welfare dime 'Cause they can't buy a job The man in the silk suit hurries by As he catches the poor old ladies' eyes Just for fun he says, "get a job" That's just the way it is Some things will never change That's just the way it is Ah, but don't you believe them Said, hey little boy you can't go where the others go 'Cause you don't look like they do Said, hey old man how can you stand To think that way Did you really think about it Before you made the rules? He said, "son That's just the way it is Some things will never change That's just the way it is Ah, but don't you believe them" Oh yeah well, they passed a law in '64 To give… That's just the way it is And some things will never change That's just the way it is That's just the way it is, it is, it is, it is Source: LyricFind Songwriters: Bruce Hornsby The Way It Is lyrics © Sony/ATV Music Publishing LLC, Warner Chappell Music, Inc
Some where some one did a verse I have not heard again... It when kinda like this. "My mama asked me won't you set me free Just reach under my bed and untie my wings So heaven I might see." Can any one help me with this?
Apartheid(SP) was in full repressive swing. EVERYONE told Paul not to go. Not to break the boycott. He went anyway. He ignored the venues South Africa wanted him to play. He played for the townships instead and thus won the hearts of the world. His back up is Lady Smith Black Mombasa. Music can always find a way.
It was Christmas, I think it was my south-more year. The radios were all broken. They could only play one song. Genius.
I know what you mean, Bruce Hornsby kind of was here and great--then we hear him no more. I don't understand it either. Like this one a lot!
I like Ricky Skaggs a lot. Even after he "went Christian" I still like him what a great singer and harmonizer!
